This annus horriblis is coming to an end (or Redeloos, radeloos and reddeloos)

This annus horriblis is coming to an end (or Redeloos, radeloos and reddeloos)

So, my dear reader, you will tell by my heading that this year has not been one of joyous triumph.   Wikipedia is a great source of many things: many facts, some fake news, and occasionally it offers up a little gem of delightful  knowledge.  That is how I stumbled across the wonderful Dutch saying Redeloos, radeloos and reddeloos.  Let me translate:  Senseless, Desperate and Irrecoverable.  In three words that pretty much sums up my 3rd full year of beekeeping.     I’m probably being a bit…

Spring is coming – but not quite yet.

Winter rain

Winter rain

It’s atrocious weather in Katoomba.  Its the forth day of Winter,  pouring with rain and it’s forecast to get worse.  Which caused me to wonder how do my bees cope in such horrible weather.   I have done a bit of looking around the web for information with the most obvious thing being they of course just hunker down and don’t come out for anything.  Pretty much the same us us.   While I was looking I found an interesting article…
